The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the Third OPEC Summit of Heads of State and Governments on November 17 and 18, 2007 in Riyadh.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Oct. 3, 2007) - His Excellency Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, has announced that, at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the Third OPEC Summit of Heads of State and Governments on November 17 and 18, 2007 in Riyadh.

The Third OPEC Summit represents its member states'agreement to periodically hold such high-level meetings in member countries. HE Mr. Al-Naimi noted that Saudi Arabia's hosting of the Summit emphasizes the Kingdom's commitment to OPEC's mission of stabilizing global oil markets in a way that serves the interests of petroleum producers and petroleum consumers alike, and benefits the global economy, in particular developing countries'economies.

The Summit will address critical issues such as the the provision of reliable energy supplies, promoting international prosperity, and protection of the environment.

The First OPEC Summit was held in 1975 in Algeria, while the Second OPEC Summit was hosted in 2000 by Venezuela.

OPEC's thriteen member states are: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
