Al-Naimi inaugurates OPEC Summit's Ministerial symposium

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 15, 2007, SPA - Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi opened here today the two-day ministerial symposium, which is organized on the fringe of the activities of the Third OPEC Summit

At the beginning of the symposium, the minister delivered a speech in which he underlined the importance of cooperation between consumers and exporters, especially in light of the economic circumstances and current environment.

The minister said, "In such symposiums, we must provide all experiences to face all upcoming challenges that we and our coming generations may face. This is what we are trying to provide in this symposium."

Then, sessions of the symposium began. They dealt with oil and gas markets as well as energy and the environment.

In the session, which dealt with the issue of energy and the environment, Minister Al-Naimi spoke on this issue calling for improving the use of energy and finding solutions for the environmental problems.

Al-Naimi said the Kingdom introduced laws to find a solution for harmful emissions and took measures to develop research and scientific curricula in universities to protect the environment.

Al-Naimi stressed the Kingdom's concern for the prosperity of the world through participation in all international efforts aiming at development of technologies that help the environment.
